CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — The 128-year-old Knutson building near downtown Cedar Rapids is getting a new life.
On Tuesday, the city approved an agreement with developer B.J. Hobart’s company, Knutson LLC.
That company’s planning to remodel the building to include commercial space on the first floor and 12 apartments on the second and third floors.
But first it hopes to stabilize the building before winter.
The city picked Hobart’s bid earlier this year over a proposal from developer Steve Emerson. That proposal included opening a Montessori school inside the Knutson building.
